Open me, the book calls.

My hand hovers above the cover,

And opens to reveal

A sea of words.

A different world,

shining, glinting, inviting me in.

I'm gone. Time stops.

My eyes dance across the page,

But they're not seeing.

I can feel the story.

I can close my eyes.

The room falls away slowly,

Losing color, sound, everything.

Silence.

My eyes open to a new world.

I can run along the grassy hills.

I can cry, laugh, smile, frown.

I'm inside the book.

I can feel the story.

I'm running across the pages.

I can see what they can't.

I can taste the victory.

This world is a field of flowers,

A breath of ocean wind,

A spray of water,

A feeling of perfect happiness.

Satisfaction. Enchantment.

I can feel the story.

I'm inside the book,

And I always will be.

These are three main characters from the Percy Jackson book series. Left to right: Grover Underwood, Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase.

This is a girl lying in the grass.

Katara from the Avatar, The Last Airbender show. I drew it for my cousin who was in the hospital.

I copied the mom's face and the baby's face from a picture in a magazine for life drawing. The rest I drew from my head.

These are copied sculptures from the Art Institute of Chicago. The first one is Zenobia Queen of Palmyra and the second one is Jeptha's Daughter. These are both done in the Neoclassical style.
